About

About Alyssa

I believe exceptional client service is about far more than completing a transaction. It’s about building trust, communicating openly, and making sure every client feels supported from beginning to end.

I’ve spent more than thirteen years working in the legal profession, primarily in real estate, corporate transactions, and estate planning. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals, families, businesses, lenders, and Indigenous organizations navigate some of life’s most significant milestones.

I’ve also had the privilege of working alongside Garnet since the very beginning of my legal career. Over the years, we’ve worked together on thousands of transactions, and today I’m proud to be part of the leadership team that has helped build Brooks Business Law into the firm it is today.

No two days are ever the same, and that’s one of the things I enjoy most about what I do. Every client has a different story. Whether someone is buying their first home, expanding their business, completing a commercial real estate transaction, or planning for the future, I enjoy getting to know what’s important to them and helping make the legal process feel straightforward and manageable.

How I Help Clients

I work closely with our lawyers and clients on a wide range of matters, including:

Real Estate

  • Residential purchases and sales
  • Commercial real estate transactions
  • Mortgage financing and refinancing
  • Indigenous real estate matters
  • Additions to Reserve
  • Commercial and residential closings

Corporate & Commercial

  • Asset purchase transactions
  • Commercial financing
  • Corporate transaction support

Estate Planning

  • Wills
  • Powers of Attorney
  • Personal Directives

In addition to working directly with clients, I oversee our Real Estate Services team, mentor and support our staff, and work closely with Garnet on firm management, operational planning, and continually improving the systems and processes that allow Brooks Business Law to deliver the exceptional client experience we’re known for.

My Approach

Family is at the centre of everything I do, and that perspective naturally carries over into my work.

Behind every file is a person, a family, or a business that matters deeply to someone. I never lose sight of that.

Whether I’m coordinating a complex commercial transaction, supporting an Indigenous organization, or helping someone purchase their first home, I want clients to feel comfortable asking questions, confident that they’re being heard, and reassured that someone is looking out for their best interests.

One of the most rewarding parts of my career is being part of important milestones in people’s lives and knowing we’ve helped make those moments feel less stressful and more exciting.

Building Brooks Business Law

Helping build Brooks Business Law has been one of the proudest experiences of my career.

What began as a small team with a shared vision has grown into an incredible group of professionals who genuinely enjoy working together and supporting one another. I’ve had the opportunity to help shape many of the systems, processes, and client service standards that define our firm today.

I’m especially proud of the culture we’ve created. It’s a place where people are trusted, encouraged to grow, and supported both professionally and personally. I believe clients can feel that difference from their very first interaction with our team.

Beyond the Office

Outside of work, I’m happiest spending time with my family.

I’m a proud wife and mom, and much of my free time revolves around cheerleading and gymnastics competitions, keeping up with my two energetic boys, camping, and making memories together outdoors.

My family loves to travel whenever we have the opportunity. My husband and I enjoy visiting Las Vegas, and every year we make it a priority to create new family adventures together.

I’m also a proud Vegas Golden Knights fan and enjoy attending hockey games, concerts, and country music festivals whenever I can.

My Journey

One of the things I’m most proud of is having the courage to pursue the life I wanted for myself and my family.

Becoming a mother at a young age inspired me to build a career that would create opportunities for my children and for myself. While raising my daughter, I completed college and began my career in the legal profession, determined to build a future we could both be proud of.

As a Mi’kmaw woman, I’m especially passionate about supporting First Nations and Indigenous organizations. Having the opportunity to contribute to projects that strengthen communities and create lasting opportunities is some of the most meaningful work I’ve been privileged to be part of.

A Final Thought

Every client deserves to feel that someone is genuinely invested in their success.

Whether I’m helping coordinate a transaction, supporting our lawyers, mentoring our team, or improving the way we deliver our services, my goal is always the same: to help create an experience that clients remember for all the right reasons.
